Must be a calendar user to use Google Calendar private feeds

I opened a ticket with IBM about another client issue and they had me rename my workspace folder and my cache.ndk and restart Notes. This resolved that issue. However now when I try to check my Google calendar under my "Show Calendars" I am getting "Must be a calendar user to use Google Calendar private feeds".

How do I resolve that?

Google changed their API

IBM is working on a more permanent fix but here is the workaround.

First removed the google calendar from your list.

Open up your google calendar in a browser. If you have a composite calendar pick the one that you want to add to your Notes calendar and click the twistie to it's right and select Calendar settings.

Down by "Embed This Calendar" is in ICAL button. Click that. Copy the URL that appears into your clipboard. It may look something like https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/myname%20gmail.com/public/basic.ics

Back in your Notes client click Add a Calendar. Instead of Google use iCalendar feed. The Label can be what you want. Use your google name for the user name (ie myname@gmail.com). In URL paste that URL you copied to your clipboard.

Now IBM admits they had a few years notice but did nothing about it:

I found the information stating the changes that happened in Google
stating November 17, 2014

As initially announced in November 2011, and reiterated in June of this
year, the older versions (v1, v2) of the Google Calendar API will be shut
down on November 17, 2014.

Any service dependent on v1 or v2 of the Google Calendar API will no
longer work as intended. Developers should ensure any relevant services
are utilizing v3 of the Google Calendar API prior to the shut down.

)

We were able to work around on the issue by using the iCalendar Feed
instead of Google TM.

But please note that this will only take the current calendar entries you have on the Google calendar and once you add it on the Lotus notes calendar it will not be updated with the future entries.
This is the limitation of using the iCalendar Feed.

Rest assure that our Development Team is already aware of this issue.

The SPR number is CSYL9QZV2H and the APAR number is LO82868.

From IBM:

The SPR number is CSYL9QZV2H and the APAR number is LO82868. However the span for the release of this fix
is not guaranteed.

Also, this sollution is n/a for iNotes

The workaround solution does not apply for iNotes since unfortunetly there is no option to choose an iCalander feed. Google calendar is the only available option in iNotes. So AFAIK it looks like there is no current fix for iNotes users with Google calendar overlays.

Add my name to the PMR also

Yes there was ample warning by the Google API team. Please add my name to the PMR also.

Not a fix !

Using iCal, i not a fix, nor a workable workaround.

Please fix this, so we can collaborate with people, not using Notes.

Add my company to this too

It is important to get the Google Calendar overlay working again in the Notes client and the iNotes client by using Google updated API.

Dear Rob,

I'm an IBMer and after trying to get help from the HDesk with no success, I'm here trying to ask for a help to you.

I cannot install the fix pack in my geo and the use ical as feed option didn't work.

What else can I do, please ?!?!

Correct SPR is IFAY9QZGKG

For Calendar Federation issues related to Google Calendar API the correct SPR is IFAY9QZGKG under APAR LO82854. My SPR CSYL9QZV2H was a duplicate of this one.

This has been addressed in Notes 901FP3 IF1 and is now published in the fix list database for release 901 FP4. You can check the link below:
